I came to CrossFit and I loved the atmosphere, community and variety of the sport and became obsessed! I’ve since managed to lose over 3 stone of fat and build up my strength and technique and have been lucky enough to compete in some competitions.
Ten years in the world of education, my love for helping others in their learning, and my own fitness journey, set me on a path towards coaching and I haven’t looked back!

Qualifications:

CrossFit Level 1 & 2 Trainer

CrossFit Gymnastic Trainer

Level 3 Personal Trainer

First Aid Trained

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

I have been doing CrossFit since September 2018

Favourite Workout?

My favorite workout would have to be either Annie or Cindy. I love the simplicity of both and you can’t beat a body weight/gymnastics WOD!

Favourite Movement(s)?

My favourite movements are the squat clean and handstand gymnastic movements.

Favourite Cheat Food?

Has to be Cauliflower hot wings with cashew ranch sauce! Maybe a sneaky summer fruits strudel pudding!

Music you like to work out to?

Love a bit of 80s and 90s and if I was on my own I’d throw on some funk!

Jon Blunt

Junior Coach

I've always enjoyed sports and fitness in general. I grew up mainly playing football but regularly taking part in many other sports as well including athletics, rugby and many more. I even ended up joining a gymnastics club for some time as I wanted to learn how to somersault and flip. Before starting CrossFit I was a regular gym goer doing body builder style training because I enjoyed lifting weights. I always wanted to join a CrossFit gym but for one reason or another kept putting it off. I finally managed to attend my first CrossFit class and have been obsessed ever since. I love the competitive side of CrossFit too. I love competing in local CrossFit competitions and I feel like it gives me that drive and something train for!

Qualifications:

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

I have been doing CrossFit since April 2021

Favourite Workout?

My favourite workout is probably Chelsea or the baseline test. I love that the baseline has a variety of movements and is a real good indication of where my fitness is at. Chelsea is great because it's such a simple workout that tests strength, endurance and your mental ability to hang on and keep pushing.

Favourite Movement(s)?

Handstand walks. There's just something fun about being upside down and walking on your hands.

Favourite Cheat Food?

Chocolate!!!

Music you like to work out to?

Music you like to work out to?Rap, Hip Hop and Grime. Something about it that really gets me fired up.

Played Rugby to a fairly high level up until the age of 40 retiring having set up my business and with two young kids, fitness took a back seat !

5 years ago aged 56 was put on blood pressure medication and advised that losing a little weight might be of benefit !

I came across CrossFit whilst on holiday in America and could not believe my luck that there was a box in Tamworth.

Never forget how nervous (and embarrassed) I felt walking into CrossFit Tamworth for my taster session.

But I loved it and kept coming back for more, today I am over a stone lighter and no longer take medication, have competed in competitions dropped into boxes all over the world and can lift, do things I could not do in my 20’s.

There are still movements and challenges I want to master but also feel the time is right to try and give a little back to the sport and help others young and old benefit from CrossFit and a healthy lifestyle.

I’m an over-grown child that can usually be found hoping about in a pair of converse. I’m a lifelong martial artist, culminating in becoming a world champion kickboxer, but I’ve been through most sports at some point. From football to cricket, track and field jumper to running, triathlon to fighting. I’ve also been lucky enough to coach, and continue to coach, my own fighters to a championship level.

Outside of the sporting arena I’m a bit of a petrol head and engineer so do occasionally have skinned knuckles and grubby fingernails.

I have always loved competitive sports. I think the pinnacle of my swim career was definitely swimming the channel with some of my friends at university. As I got older I wanted to do more of a team sport and got into rugby! I absolutely loved the bravado and that feeling of putting your body on the line for your team mates. However I probably wasn’t as good as I thought I was and kept getting injured . It was actually my old rugby coach that got me into CrossFit “you’re the kind of nutter that would love this” and here I am!
