“I used to run a lot and work out at a gym on my own. It was boring and isolating – I was doing the same thing and had no real direction or goals.
When we went into lockdown I googled workouts and found a few CrossFit workouts to do in the garden, including “Annie” and DT. As we came out of lockdown, I saw a few posts about CFT on Instagram and decided to give it a go. I wanted a challenge and I definitely got one!
Honestly, I was a little nervous! I had no idea what to expect. When I walked in everyone was so friendly, other members introduced themselves and I felt so welcome. Even after a difficult workout, people were smiling and happy – it’s infectious! It was hard to stay nervous or unsure, once I got involved and started coming to classes more regularly I don’t know why I worried.
Now, I can’t wait to come in to see everyone and work hard to get better – and laugh along the way.
My first bright spot was a 67.5kg front squat – couldn’t believe I managed it and then managed 75kg within the next month!
I’m mostly working on Gymnastics! Mainly, handstand walks, hollows and arches and kipping pull ups
There are so many fab memories! I think my favourite has to be the award ceremony for the CrossFit Tamworth Championships 2021. Firstly, winning best female athlete was amazing.”
